RATIONALE//

From the research into all the briefs that I have been presented to and all the possibilities this will give me in realtions to product/packaging and distribution. For me the main focus was on being able to produce work that will allow me to expoilt my full potential and at the same time apply all the relevant techniques that I have learnt throughout these two year. The two brief I have decided to combine are the Diesel Illustration brief which contsists of interpreting a band/artisit through the means of Illustration and the other bief is to design a typeface that celebrates and explores flowers and plants and their vegitation. Both briefs had a interesting driving theme that I can see my work applying to so bringing them together was really the only solution I had left, and what I have decidied to do is market and package/distribute a complication (music) that celebrates the flural theme. I want to keep it pretty illustration based with an emphasis on type as image, as well as some of the type skills I have been picking up during the type module, which have been extreamly handy so far, and have made me want to really apply it to my own practice as a whole, as opposed to on its own. This will also allow me to work with the different materials and finally enhance my experience in screen printing. 

STATEMENT OF INTENT//

As I have said what I will be producing is a collection or series of illustrations that interpret the idea of the flower,plant or floral elements that are used as inspirations for songs. I want to keep the genre pretty similar, not only to keep it in interest for myself but also to allow it to be consistant. The genre I want to focus it down to is hip-hop//rap//soul// This will really allow me to establish a coherant theme throughout.But with aslo a few work wordly music tracks. The aim will be something chilled out//atmospheric CD. This will them be produced in a collection of either a series of serepate single with their own individual packaging, booklet (the illustrations and lyrics) This will then lead to the promoting of the cd with I hope to have a link to some of the design for web//and webiste session we have been doing, to explore how my work will work across a range. Posters might also come into account and t-shirts. I hope to use screen printing as my main medium. Which will drive the way in which I will work with this design wise. 

BRIEF//

The way I will be able to achieve this is to first of all be able to research into what I want to use in terms of poetry and songs for the actual album. An interprestaion will also consist of researching into the different songs and also producing targeted client research which is an element that I have decided to keep from one of the briefs to be able to fully expolit the meaning and inform myself as to what the context will be and how it will visually sit in real life. As well as an ongoing developmnt in illustration and typography from this point onwards I want to be able to develop a more technical appraoch to screen printing and exlpore the possibilites I yet havnt and take it to a higer level to just two colour outlines and shades. 

RESEARCH//

Again very similar I will be conduction research in two main area's, the content and the method of delivery. I want to be able to fully expolit during this module the extention of my screen priting experience and knowledge and be able to show work that represents me and my working ethics more. I will also be looking into the different codes and conventions of the music genre I want to focus in on and apply my own approach to it. One of the aims of the brief was also to establish a link between illustration and image making with the music indusrty. I will be looking into ways of interpresting and communicating as much as possible which will require into looking at how music and illustration hace come hand in hand previously. 

PRACTICAL DEVELOPMENT//

Obviously the first acticivty I will be looking into is the notion of listening to the music and trying to produce something honest and stay away from the cliche representations we can have. Especially with the theme of flowers it could easly become something cheesy and sensless. I really want to make the most of interepestation and communication, which is why the reasearch into the right types of songs and establishing a link between them is extreamly important. Another thing will be to attend as many workshops and drop in sessions in the print room which I hope to start on from the end of this week to be able to start my experiementational phase even before I hace finished the final develoements. I hope to develope a working method that will work hand in hand with one another. 

RECORDING//DOCUMENTATION//EVALUATION

This isnt usually a real problem for me as I have now taken the habit of recodring my developement and as I hope to prodce an extensive body of work. I really hope that I continue to do thins more and more and come back to more regular blogging, daily if possible to achieve the maximum effect and allow me to keep better track of how and what I have done. The evaluation process will also be something I will be dropping in at critical phases of this last brief as well as an ongoing organisiation that will allow me to make the most of the limited time I have left.
