The packaging excersise for me was just another way to get away from the moving image side and challenge how well I was able to communicate the same motion and atmosphere within print based still media. I knew that I wanted to have the same colour scheme and work around the same assets and type so that did narrow things down for me. I looked into really different opportunited like making a box into the shape of different cirucs animals or using the laser cutter to remove elements. But I think the last idea I had of produceing the simple black box with the dental frame was the most appropriate and to me communicated not only the animation well but also the theme without having even seen the sequence.
The idea was to have the standard box which was the packaging of the actual dvd case, and then the dvd sleeve cover which I printed back to front because I wanted to use a transparent dvd case, which would have been odd and not really finished if I had leaft it just blank.
